We cannot count on the current system to withstand the attacks against it. Our government has been fractured; slowly weakened and corrupted by those seeking to enrich themselves and consolidate power. 

What occurred in Los Angeles county in June 2025 has been predicted by many. And yet, despite those predictions, we’ve continued sliding towards authoritarianism. Roughly a third of voting-age citizens openly support what’s happening. These people wholly support the administration carrying out this attack on our country, weakening it every chance they get. They’re becoming more dangerous, more vocal, and more malleable by misinformation with each passing day.

The remainder of Americans either oppose this administration and its enablers, or could be sympathetic to the cause.

This is a message to those Americans.

The United States must be better. I imagine all Americans would agree. However, this means moving on as a nation and society, not returning to a mythical “Golden Age”. We must unify in this pursuit. 

First we must stop the rot that has been consuming the country for decades.

The best-case scenario is that we can stop tyranny in its tracks through effective resistance. This means supporting each other as we can, volunteering in our communities, educating our neighbors, and preparing for the worst.

The worst-case scenario means that this takes longer than we hope. But as others have said: “One generation plants the trees, and another gets the shade”. It may get much worse before it gets better, but that can’t be a deterrent. Future generations deserve a better world than we were given.
